We are a professional authentic Gypsy Jazz Swing Duo based in Yorkshire, available for Weddings, Private Parties, Vintage Fairs, cafes/restaurants, and any other event you may be planning! Graduates of Hull College and Hull University, Dave and Rob have over 70 years of playing experience between them, are both guitar tutors around Yorkshire, and are professional musicians in their own right, having toured the UK and Europe many times. Our passion lies in honouring the legacy of Gypsy Jazz Swing Music in the style of the much adored and respected Django Reinhardt, playing classics from the standard repertoire, and also taking modern songs and giving them the gypsy swing treatment (see our Setlist for more information). Endorsed by none other than the Gypsy Jazz legend Robin Nolan himself! We love playing Gypsy swing music, and play all types of events from theatres, to clubs, to engagement parties, to weddings...if vintage vibe is your thing, book Ain't Got That Swing!

Fort Paull Battery Heritage Site: “We were lucky enough to bag Ain’t That Got Swing for our 1940s Weekend celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day. They entertained visitors to the Fort Bar in true style; they looked great and sounded brilliant. Not only are they fantastic musicians, but Dave and Rob are such nice guys too. Ain't That Got Swing were such an amazing part of our wedding day! So many guests were telling us how much they enjoyed the band's music! we loved their style and particularly enjoyed their Disney medley and the Beatles covers! even songs we didn't know we felt like we did - it was such a nice relaxed vibe having the music played while we mingled and had our wedding breakfast! We wish this duo all the best and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for some nice light-hearted background music for their big day or any other event! ☺️✨

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our clients love our passion for Gypsy Swing Jazz, our relaxed professional demeanour, the fact we wear vintage clothing tailored to the occasion, and how our humour comes through in our music. We have had many compliments on our arrangements of modern songs in the old Gypsy Swing style (imagine Postmodern Jukebox on two guitars!).

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed all over Yorkshire, including Hull, Beverley, Lincoln, York, Harrogate, all the way over to Liverpool; playing engagement parties, theatres, and jazz clubs. We currently have bookings in 2025 for vintage weekends as far down south as Wilsthire.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

The great Django Reinhardt, Stephan Grapelli, Joscho Stephan, Robin Nolan, Erich Nussbaum, Postmodern Jukebox, Blue Jar, Stephan Wremble, Opa Tsupa

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We played the Albemarle Theatre in our hometown of Hull for our first ever gig, which has a capacity of over 250!

Do you have different line-up options?

We will soon be offering options including a violinist and/or female singer, however they are professional musicians themselves and in high demand, so at the moment we are available as a duo

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Please notify us as soon as you can with any changes, we aim to be as flexible as possible to fit in with your special event.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We generally do not provide this, but please contact us if you are in desperate need and we can discuss options.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually require 45-60 minutes to setup/warm up.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We generally perform sat down, but we do have a cable-less setup which allows us to move from place to place.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course! And please do contact us more than a month in advance if you wish for a free custom gypsy swing arrangement of a song of your choice.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes, everything detailed in our spec is included in our quote (generally we do not provide PA or lighting).

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes! We will make a unique Gypsy Swing arrangement of a song of your choice (it can be anything-modern, pop, rock etc), but we require at least a month's notice. Anything more than one song would require a fee of £30 per song, this is to take into account time spent making the arrangements, and the rehearsal times etc.
