The Briggs Duo

Ailsa (18) and Danushka (16) have been playing together for a total of 6 years and have enjoyed many performances together in the past at venues such as Emmanuel Church and Launde Abbey. They have also performed many times together at their school, Loughborough Schools Foundation, where they both have won many of the school competitions. As well as the regular school annual concerts, they frequently perform to and coach the younger children at the school as a way of inspiring them. They have also both been members of some of the best youth orchestras in the country including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Youth Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra and National Youth Chamber Orchestra of Great Britain. Ailsa also led the Leicestershire Schools Symphony Orchestra, while Danushka has led the cello section in orchestras at the junior department of the Royal Academy of Music. Individually they have also both enjoyed success as soloists, having both performed concertos and solos with some local orchestras, and won awards at local and national competitions. Ailsa will be off to the Royal Northern College of Music in September to study violin full time while Danushka hopes to also study cello full time at a national conservatoire in the near future.
