About Adam

Trumpeter
London

I started playing the Trumpet when I was 6 years old. My dad plays 2nd Violin in the BBC Symphony Orchestra and brought home a cheap trumpet from work one day. I got to grips with it fairly quickly and joined my local music service in Richmond-upon-Thames where I played Flugelhorn in the brass band for a while, before moving to Soprano Cornet in my final years in the band. I was also principal trumpet in the Orchestra and the Concert band at Richmond Music Trust. In September 2013 I started at the Royal College of Music Junior Department (RCMJD) and still learn with Philip Bainbridge there. For 2 years I was in the Sinfonia orchestra there, where we played things like Superman Theme and Bernstein's Candide overture as well as Moussorgsky's Night on a Bold Mountain. I got my grade 8 distinction in January 2015, and was moved up to the Symphony orchestra at RCMJD in September 2015. I then got a place in NYOGB starting in December 2015 and have performed Tchaikovsky's Hamlet Overture, Prokofiev's 5th Symphony, Stravinsky's Fireworks and Firebird and Michael Daugherty's Fire and Blood Violin concerto so far, with performances in Leeds Town Hall, the Barbican, Royal festival Hall, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and Bridgewater hall. I hope to apply and audition successfully to a conservatoire, with the aim of becoming an orchestral trumpeter, although am currently undecided which conservatoire I would like to go to.
