Anna and Alan are experienced performers . Anna has a degree and MA in Theatre and Performance and has been successfully combining her career in education. beginning as a performing arts and musical theatre teacher with singing professionally for a number of years . Anna’s versatility and vocal range means that she can tackle a variety of musical styles including pop , jazz , blues , musical theatre , folk and classical . She has performed in a number of bands, and as a solo artist and across a variety of professional venues with other singing groups including Birmingham Symphony Hall , The Royal Festival Hall , The Albert Hall , Birmingham Town Hall and Notre Dame in Paris . She is also a lead singer of a New Orleans Trad Jazz Band. Alan plays guitar, bass guitar and keyboards. Starting out in a teenage rock covers band in his home city of Newcastle he had to move to something more sensible when he became a teacher! Settling in Nottingham, he had a long successful semi professional stint playing on the East Midlands circuit in a Bruce Springsteen tribute band and in the orchestra pit for a range of musical productions. On moving to the West Midlands in 2000 he joined Yakity Yak who were former New Faces finalists and took over the vocals and guitar work. As a functions band and in a varied set of ballads and dance classics he also played piano and keyboards for Yakity Yak and became the musical arranger. Together Alan and Anna make a powerful combination and their experience shows through in their performances . Alan also uses a looping pedal and drum pedal for some songs which means that when required the duo can create a full band sound . Whether you require a laid back acoustic set or something more upbeat ( 80’s synth pop for example ) Acoustic R&R can cater for a variety of different events . They are also happy to take song requests . They have a full PA and will bring all equipment required with them .
