Abby Lorimier

Abby Lorimier is an American cellist and educator based in London. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Music (BMus) and Royal Academy of Music (MA) where she studied with professors Alastair Blayden, Hélène Dautry, and Benjamin Hughes. As a keen orchestral player, she is a member of the 2022-2023 Southbank Sinfonia fellowship and also regularly plays with groups such as Sinfonia Cymru, the London Firebird Orchestra, and the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. Abby has a particular interest in contemporary music and is a founding member of the Eumelia Piano Trio which aims to promote piano trios by women composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Abby has participated in festivals such as the 2013 NAfME US National Honors Orchestra, the 2016 Orchestra of the Americas, the 2019 Irish Chamber Orchestra Academy, and the 2020 Mike Block Folk Music Intensive. Passionate about music education, she has certification in the ABRSM and Suzuki methods and works as a strings tutor with the Tri-Borough Music Hub in London as well as the Gifford Youth Orchestra in Florida. She also has extensive experience as a community outreach musician, youth mentor, and creative workshop leader through the London Sinfonietta, RCM Sparks, the Boston Philharmonic’s Crescendo! Outreach Programme, and From the Top’s Center for the Development of Arts Leadership.
