Abbie Muvuma Cellist

I am a versatile cellist, classically trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Though my background is classical, I have spent a large number of years experimenting with different styles of music, my favourites currently being soul and jazz. I absolutely love creating covers of songs in these genres! My half-Ugandan heritage has also influenced my playing and I have spent time improvising with Ugandan musicians while living over there. I am flexible and always tailor my song/piece choices to my client’s requests. Creating a memorable sound and an incredible atmosphere is my goal at every wedding or event that I perform at! My line up can be flexible too: I can play solo with no accompaniment or can add backing tracks. If desired, I can include other musicians. Some combinations include cello and piano, cello and guitar, and even cello and oboe! A couple of memorable performances that I have been a part of in the past year: - Playing with Alicia Keys in her new recording of ‘I Ain’t Got You’ for Bridgerton: a Queen Charlotte Story - Performing obuyile: a performance for four cellists by Thulani Rachia as part of Betwixt.
