Alasdair Wells is a first class and award winning graduate from Leeds College Of Music, specialising in Jazz and Popular Music performance with disciplines in Drum Kit and Percussion. Most notably, Alasdair was resident drummer for band ‘Rationale’ on their debut UK and American sell-out tours, including performances for Bestival Toronto, JBTV, BBC Radio 1’s Future Festival in London and Later... with Jools Holland.Performances with other artists include the opening ceremony for the 2014 Tour de France at the Leeds First Direct Arena with Kimberley Walsh and Alasdair Griffin, the London Mayor’s Stage at the 2012 Olympics with Edmund Jeffery and a debut live session on Sofar Sounds with Bianca Gerald, with whom he is also resident live drummer.With a passion for session work as well as live performance in a variety of genres, Alasdair plays for a number of Jazz, Pop and experimental ensembles whilst also enjoying composing and co-writing music for various Jazz idioms. The Calvin Travers Trio, Aleks Podraza Trio, Natalie Holmes and Nicky Powel are to name only a few of the artists that he has performed for, both live and in the studio, whilst also pursuing many solo and collaborative projects.In amongst performance for original artists, Alasdair also manages and performs in Kudos Functions UK, a high-end wedding and party band and is a group workshop leader and peripatetic tutor for various arts organisations in Yorkshire.
