5 Key Details to Look Out For when Insuring Your Instruments

When insuring your instruments, you want to be sure that the policy you choose is both competitive and comprehensive.

Allianz Musical Insurance have provided musical instrument cover since the 1960s and today are the UK’s No.1.

They insure over 70,000 musicians, from function bands to string quartets, pianists to DJs. Whether it’s a small-town gig or a large corporate event, they’ve got you covered. And don’t forget, they’re offering 20% off to Encore members *

Here are their top 5 features of musical instrument insurance for pro/semi-pro musicians:

1. Unlimited professional use

We’ll cover you if music is your livelihood, whether you’re a professional or semi-pro. Our musical insurance means you’re covered whenever you’re paid to play, whether that’s touring the world or a weekend gig.

2. Public Liability & Personal Accident cover add-on

Public liability cover protects you against the cost of a claim if someone is injured or damages property while you’re using your equipment or instruments.

We offer 3 different levels of cover:

Personal accident insurance covers you if you’re injured while using your instrument or any piece of music equipment. We provide £10,000 worth of personal accident cover with each level of public liability cover.

3. Worldwide cover add on

Travelling to gigs outside the UK? For extra peace of mind when travelling choose our Worldwide Cover to be protected against loss, theft, accidental damage and more when outside of the UK.

4. Theft from an unattended vehicle add on

Unattended vehicle cover insures your musical equipment against theft or accidental damage when in a vehicle, whether that’s for a quick stop at a petrol station on your way to a gig, or an entire night. This is incredibly useful when transporting your instruments for touring and playing live.

5. New for Old Cover

Does your musical insurance policy include new for old cover? It does, if you’re insured with us.

For example, if you own an instrument that is 20 years old and was bought second-hand, you can insure this for however much it would cost to replace to the same standard, which may be more than what the instrument actually cost to purchase. If you do need to make a claim, we’ll pay out the amount for which your instrument was insured, so you can source another vintage make, if this is your preference. Some insurers will only replace your gear to its full value when it is purchased as new/less than three years old. This is not the case with our policies.

As a team of music experts, we know that the one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for musicians, which is why our policies are designed to be adapted to each individual’s needs.

We understand how important it is to quickly resolve any repair or replacement of lost or damaged instruments, so musicians like you can keep on playing.
