Celebrating Earth Day: How Encore Promotes Greener Gigs

Earth Day is just around the corner on April 22nd, and millions of people worldwide are gearing up to celebrate and take action for a cleaner, more sustainable environment.

Here at Encore, we’re all about bringing joy to your events through the magic of live music. But we also want to make sure we’re doing our bit for the planet we all call home.

Our Pledge for Earth Day (and every day!)

We’re not just talking the talk when it comes to being eco-friendly; we’re walking the walk, too. For every booking we receive, we plant a tree to help offset our carbon footprint. It’s our way of giving back to Mother Earth and making sure that the power of music can keep on rocking for generations to come.

So far we’ve planted over 25,000 trees and we’re on track to reach 50,000 by the end of 2024.

Why Trees Rock

Trees are like the superheroes of our environment, and they’re the perfect symbol for our Earth Day pledge. They do all sorts of amazing things, like absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, which helps keep our climate in check. They also act as natural air purifiers, filter out pollutants, and give us cleaner air to breathe. Plus, they provide shelter and food for loads of different species, helping to keep our planet’s biodiversity thriving.

Making Your Gigs Greener

Want to join us in making your events more eco-friendly? Here are some top tips for making your gigs greener this Earth Day and beyond:

  • Pick eco-friendly venues: Choose venues that are committed to sustainable practices, like energy-efficient lighting, water-saving measures, or recycling and composting facilities.
  • Cut down on waste: Encourage recycling and composting at your events, use reusable or biodegradable tableware and decorations, and ditch single-use plastics. You can also go digital with your tickets and promotional materials to save on paper.
  • Support local talent: Booking local musicians means you’re not only supporting your community’s artists, but you’re also cutting down on carbon emissions from transportation.
  • Go green with catering: Opt for caterers who use locally-sourced, organic ingredients and provide plant-based options.
  • Offset your event’s carbon footprint: Calculate the carbon emissions of your event and consider offsetting them through carbon credits or supporting renewable energy projects.

Encore’s Ongoing Commitment to Sustainability

Our tree-planting pledge is just one way we’re working to be more sustainable. We also connect event organisers with local musicians, which cuts down on travel and emissions. In our office, we’re all about green practices like reducing energy consumption, using energy-efficient equipment, recycling, and encouraging our team to use public transport, walk, or cycle to work.
We’re also big fans of digital communication to cut down on paper use. Plus, we’re always on the lookout for new ways to improve and stay at the cutting edge of eco-friendliness.
