For more than 25 years, Herbert Holler has been one of New York City’s most sought-after DJs and event producers. He plays weddings, mitzvahs, galas, corporate events, luxury brand events and private celebrations, and he’s known for reading the room: an elegant soundtrack while guests mingle and dine, then a dance floor where every generation finds something to move to. Herbert has played legendary NYC clubs as well as events in Tokyo, London and Venice. His clients include Samsung, Porsche, Live Nation, Sony and Universal Music, and he has worked with artists such as John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Boyz II Men, Mark Ronson and the Weeknd. DJ Holler was great at communicating in advance of our wedding - offering to talk to us even more than we needed which was a great comfort. During the wedding, he took over and managed our mics so expertly that we were able to truly be in the moment and then got everyone (old and young) on the dancefloor!

From our first conversation, Herbert Holler showed us he really cared about making our wedding day special. He was quick to respond to our questions and had a genuine interest in understanding what we wanted for our reception. What stood out most was how he took our playlist and made it better by adding songs that fit the vibe perfectly, keeping the energy flowing all night long. His attention to detail and passion for the music came through in every interaction leading up to the wedding and especially on the big day itself. Herbert wasn't just playing songs—he was helping us celebrate in exactly the way we imagined. We'd absolutely recommend him to any couple looking for a DJ who truly cares about their event.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients tell me they love how focused I am on their guests and on making the night fun. They also love how easy I am to work with: I’m efficient, flexible and reliable, with a positive, friendly, can-do attitude from the first conversation to the last song. Whatever comes up, I’m happy to make it work, so hosts can relax and enjoy their own celebration.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

After thousands of events and 25 years of full-time, professional deejaying, the list is long! Highlights include all Cipriani event spaces, countless hotels in Manhattan and Brooklyn, incredible live-music venues like (le) poisson rouge, the Apollo and SOBs, and too many more to mention. If you’ve chosen a venue, there’s a good chance I’ve played there.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Prince, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin shaped my love of music. As a DJ, I’m inspired by greats like Jazzy Jeff, D-Nice, DJ Cassidy, Mark Ronson, Louie Vega, Red Alert, Gilles Peterson and David Rodigan. That mix is why I blend all genres together, into one cohesive, powerful mix of music.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Deejaying for the Weeknd on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It was a thrill to play for a national TV audience, and I bring that same level of professionalism and energy to every wedding and private event. Whether it’s millions watching at home or 100 of your closest friends, my focus is the same: making the night one to remember.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem. Schedules shift, and I’ll work with you to adjust. Just let me know as soon as you can. If the new timing is the same length, there’s no extra charge, and an extra 15-20 minutes is always on me. If you’d like me to play longer than that, I’m happy to add time when I’m available, at an agreed hourly rate.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes. As a DJ, there are no gaps between sets. I keep the music going from the moment guests arrive to the last song of the night, including cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. You won’t need a separate playlist or anyone to fill the breaks. If there’s a playlist or special song you’d like during a certain moment, I’m happy to work it in.

How much time do you need to set up?

For a standard setup with just me and my equipment, I need at least 1 hour. For larger productions with extra sound, lighting or staging, I need at least 2 hours. I’ll arrive early and have everything set up, tested and ready before your first guest walks in. If the venue has load-in rules or time limits, just let me know and I’ll plan around them.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely. I’ll ask for your must-play songs, your do-not-play list and any special moments, like a first dance or an entrance. You can choose as much or as little as you like. Many clients share a few favorites and trust me with the rest, so I can read the room and keep the dance floor full. Guest requests are welcome on the night, too.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes. I bring everything I need for a professional, great-sounding event, so you don’t have to arrange a thing. If your venue already provides a sound system I can use, just let me know, since that can lower your price. I’m also happy to coordinate with the venue ahead of time so everything runs smoothly.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, in a DJ’s way. Instead of learning songs, I make sure I have exactly what you want: a specific version, a rare track, a song from your family’s culture, or a song with special meaning. Send me your list ahead of time, and I’ll have every request ready. If a special moment needs a shortened edit or a timed cue, I can prepare that too.
