MOTOR CITY SOUNDS pays tribute to the classic era of Soul music. Packing dance floors wherever they play, MCS bring an energy that can only be created by a live 10-piece band. Performing songs from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, The Supremes, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Otis Redding. MOTOR CITY SOUNDS recreate the essence and atmosphere of Motown and Soul from the 60s and 70s, with authentic arrangements and instrumentation. Performance credits include: Melbourne’s “Soul a Go-Go”, White Night (Melbourne & Ballarat), Backing “The Merindas” at Crown Casino, CluBarham, Ballarat’s Begonia Festival and warm-up band for ABC TV’s “Q & A”. Featuring top-class musicians from across Victoria, including an X-factor finalist, a former member of the John Butler Trio and sessions with top Australian musicians such as The Merindas, Geoff Achison, John McNamara, Brett Garsed and Neil Murray.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

As a 10-piece band, we will occasionally require fill-in players. We have a great network of musicians that help us out. We will be more than happy to let you know if we are utilising a replacement player.

Do you have different line-up options?

To maintain the integrity of our performance, Motor City Sounds is only available to perform as a 10-piece line-up (3 vocals, 3 horns, Drums, Bass, Guitar, Keys)

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We are more than happy to provide music in our set breaks. This can be your requests, or a selection of appropriate/related music. We only ask that this is organised prior to your event.

How much time do you need to set up?

We generally require a 2.5 hour window to allow for our sound & light production team, as well as the band, to set up and sound check.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We are more than happy for you to select which songs you want (or don't want) us to play. We will then place them in an appropriate order for your event.
