About Julie

NYC-based violinist, jazz pianist, DJ, and producer. Live music for weddings, private events, and corporate galas across NY, NJ, and CT.
Violinist
Kings County

Julie Schatz is a violinist, pianist, vocalist, producer and composer based in Brooklyn. She builds live music around what an event is actually for — from original scores written to a client's product video and performed live in sync, to solo violin at MoMA and the Metropolitan Club, to unobtrusive instrumental for a client dinner where the conversation is the point. She holds a bachelor's degree in jazz theory and performance and has worked on recording projects and live performances as a violinist, pianist, songwriter, and beat maker; credits range from Wu-Tang to Disney. Selected venues include The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Club, Mandarin Oriental, Webster Hall, Sony Hall, 620 Loft & Garden, and Moxy Hotel. Corporate events, private celebrations and weddings across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, with a repertoire of 255 songs for wedding bookings spanning classical, jazz, R&B, country, contemporary pop, and worship. A fresh mix of electronic, R&B, and hip-hop sounds, with deep roots in jazz. Julie is a Roland artist and music educator, contributing content to platforms including Splice. Her Soul Shades remix work has been featured by Ninja Tune, accumulating over 10 million combined views.

Customer questions

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Every booking includes up to 3 song requests from the repertoire of 200+ songs.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes. Every booking includes a low-profile, high-fidelity PA system suited to the venue: wired XLR for indoor rooms, battery-powered amplification for outdoor lawns and rooftops, and wireless lavalier mics for officiants and vows when needed. Julie also travels with a professional electric violin and a portable keyboard rig when no venue piano is available.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Julie can learn and prepare new material with at least 6 weeks of lead time (a custom-song fee applies). For featured arrangements where Julie plays the song's vocal melody on violin by memory rather than over the recording, an instrumental-version fee applies.
