Introducing Encore Pay: Transparent Quotes

We think the music industry works best when everyone involved is transparent and honest.

That’s why at Encore, unlike agencies, we never ask musicians to change their names and we’re always up-front about fees.

We built Encore on the basis that dealing directly with musicians is the quickest and simplest way to handle event bookings. No middlemen, no hidden costs, just straightforward conversations with experienced music professionals.

With this update we’ve given musicians complete control of their quotes. You’ll always know how much of the total performance fee you’ll receive, and how much goes towards the Encore service fee.

Transparent quoting

When you enter your quote you’ll instantly see how your quote breaks down into Performance Fee and Encore Service fee (15%), so that you can adjust your fee accordingly to ensure you receive an amount you’re happy with.

Why do we charge? The Encore Service Fee allows us to continue providing 24/7 support for our musicians regarding their bookings and means we can continue refining and improving Encore for everyone – focusing on more live music and less admin. You can read more about the Encore Service Fee in our FAQs.

Quote negotiation

Sometimes situations arise where an original booking quote needs to be adjusted; you may need to increase your fee to account for an additional performer, or a change of performance timings. All too often this leads to messy email trails and invoices which can be a pain to manage, particularly when tax season comes round.

With the new quote negotiation feature, communication around quotes has never been simpler. Let’s take a look:

  1. Jim makes an enquiry through Encore for a wedding band, asking for quotes from available bands near his venue
  2. Lucy, who has a great wedding band, receives a notification about Jim’s request and applies for the gig giving a Quote of £1000 + £50 to cover travel expenses
  3. As Jim and Lucy discuss the booking, it emerges that Jim would like a DJ set after the band’s performance and asks how much it would be. Lucy says she’d be happy to do it for an extra £100 (all prices discussed in messages include the 15% service fee).
  4. Jim then sends Lucy a Booking Request, with the Quote updated to £1100 + £50 travel.
  5. Problem solved!

Transparent Quotes

Lucy’s band take home £985 (£935 + £50 travel), and all invoices are automatically updated to reflect the new change, so no time is wasted sending revised PDFs backwards and forwards.

Here’s a handy infographic we made to show you exactly when payments are made for Encore bookings.
