About Lyra

Legit musical theatre & classical soprano for weddings, ceremonies and elegant live events.
Singer (soprano)
London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

I am a London-based classical and legit musical theatre soprano, providing elegant live singing for weddings, funerals, memorial services, church ceremonies and private events. I offer a calm, professional and musically sensitive presence, carefully tailored to the tone and significance of each occasion. I perform because music has a unique ability to support important moments — whether in celebration, reflection or remembrance. In formal and ceremonial settings, live singing can enhance the atmosphere and meaning of an occasion, and I approach every engagement with respect, preparation and care for both the music and the people involved. My musical training began with a full scholarship to Wells Cathedral School, where I received a strong foundation in classical singing and musicianship. I have since continued my development through advanced professional training in musical theatre in London, alongside ongoing vocal coaching. My background also includes experience teaching within the classical music sector, supporting a thoughtful, technically grounded approach to performance. I have performed as a soloist in concert, recital and theatre settings across the UK, and I am comfortable working in a range of venues including churches, theatres, private spaces and formal event settings. I am confident collaborating with organists, pianists and backing tracks, and I ensure that all practical details — repertoire planning, timing, equipment and communication — are handled smoothly and professionally. For weddings and ceremonies, I work closely with clients to select music that feels personal, appropriate and supportive of the occasion. For funerals and memorial services, I offer a sensitive and understated approach, supporting families with clear communication and thoughtful repertoire choices during what can be a difficult time. My repertoire includes classical favourites, refined musical theatre selections, and popular songs presented in a classical or crossover style, alongside bespoke requests where appropriate. I am always happy to advise on music choices based on venue, acoustics and the emotional tone desired. Above all, clients can expect reliability, discretion and a high musical standard. I am committed to clear communication, careful preparation and delivering a polished, seamless performance on the day.

★★★★★ Outstanding performance – elegant, versatile, and captivating We booked Lyra for a bar/club event and she exceeded expectations in every way. Her ability to move seamlessly between vintage jazz, classical-style pieces, and musical theatre numbers was genuinely impressive and perfectly suited the atmosphere we wanted to create. Her jazz selections were stylish and authentic, setting a sophisticated tone early in the evening, while her classical and musical theatre repertoire brought real vocal depth and emotional storytelling to the room. Each style felt confident and well-judged, never jarring, and always engaging for the audience. She has a beautiful, controlled voice, excellent musical instincts, and a strong sense of how to read and work a room. Guests commented throughout the night on how polished and special the performance felt, and she created an ambience that elevated the entire event. Professional, reliable, and a true class act — we would absolutely book her again and highly recommend her for bars, clubs, and events looking for high-quality live music with range and elegance.

I first encountered Lyra Winters on social media, artfully cruising through the musical theatre canon, with a voice born to deliver each piece. I have since had the privilege of experiencing her talent in person. Often ethereal, always vehement, her mesmerising performances have had me entranced on every occasion.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients often comment on the warmth, clarity, and emotional connection in my singing, as well as the calm, professional way I approach each event. I take care to read the room, tailor the music sensitively, and create moments that feel personal and meaningful rather than intrusive.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I’ve performed at a range of venues including concert halls, churches, cathedrals, theatres, private residences, hotels, and intimate event spaces across the UK, as well as at concerts and showcases connected to professional training environments. I have also been fortunate to perform internationally.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I’m influenced by classic musical theatre and operatic performers, particularly Julie Andrews, Kelli O’Hara, Sierra Boggess, and Barbara Cook, as well as the storytelling traditions of Rodgers & Hammerstein and Golden Age musical theatre.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I’ve performed in concerts and showcases alongside West End musical theatre performers, in addition to engagements for private events, ceremonies, and memorial services.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always aim to be flexible where possible and understand that timings can sometimes shift slightly. If there are any changes in the run-up to your event, just let me know as soon as you can and I’ll do my best to accommodate.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I’m happy for background music to be played through the PA before or between sets if required for an additional fee. I don’t offer a full DJ service, but I can advise on suitable playlists or work alongside venue-provided music where helpful for an additional fee.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually need around 30 minutes to set up and sound-check where a PA is required. This can often be done discreetly before guests arrive, and I’m happy to coordinate with the venue in advance.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely — I’m very happy to discuss preferred pieces and tailor the repertoire to suit your event. I’ll also help guide the final selection to ensure the music flows well and suits the atmosphere you’re looking for.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes. I can provide my own microphone and PA system where required. For some venues, existing sound systems may also be used — this can be discussed in advance to suit the space.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, I’m often happy to learn specific pieces with sufficient notice, subject to suitability. A small additional fee applies for learning new songs to cover preparation and rehearsal time, which can be discussed once I know your preferences.
