Instrument-inspired, rather than genre-led, the group evolves around a core of strings and what can be done with them, across genres and instrumental combinations, to create truly enlivening performances, for anyone. Using music as a means of connection to make a qualitative difference in people's experience, they seek to contribute to an inclusive, imaginative and collaborative world, offering non-prohibitive ticket prices and exploring a diverse and imaginative repertoire. Project Instrumental is a scalable collection of some of the finest professional young musicians in the UK. It has workshopped and premiered over 35 new works, recorded for TV and top-10 chart hitting albums, received awards from the Britten-Pears Foundation, the Hinrichsen Foundation and the Arts Council, and collaborated across the fields of art, electronica, cymatics, projection mapping, light and sound analysis technology. Reaching into various corners of the UK, its home is East London, where the diversity, creativity and unmanicured sense of possibility of the area resonates with Project Instrumental's own.
