Formed in 2011 during their first year of undergraduate study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, The Platinum String Quartet is a versatile ensemble based in Scotland. Providing music for a wide variety functions from weddings to high profile events, our engagements to date have included: Lindsays Solicitors 200th Anniversary Celebration, 2015 Official Opening Ceremony of the south Glasgow hospitals and Teaching and Learning Centre, attended by her Majesty the Queen, 2015 Evening Times Scotswoman of the Year Awards, 2015 Santander function at Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow, 2014 Waverley Care Tartan Ribbon Dinner, 2014 Scottish Government reception to thank the staff of Gleneagles, Stirling Castle, 2014 Fundraising performance for Breast Cancer Care UK 2013 Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Mondays at One concert series Alongside performance commitments the ensemble is dedicated to continued professional development, participating in masterclasses with renowned chamber musicians including: Daniel Rowland, Ian Belton and Paul Cassidy (of the Brodsky Quartet), Helena Poggio, Aitor Hevia and Josep Puchades (of the Cuarteto Quiroga), Luc-Marie Aguera, Roland Roberts, Jerzy Kosmala, Gina McCormack, Peter Manning, Jackie Shave, Philippe Graffin, Asdis Valdimarsdottir and Nobuko Imai. In August 2013, having been generously awarded a grant from the Hope Scott Trust, the quartet participated in the 32nd Orlando Festival, Kerkrade; an International Chamber music festival and the oldest of its kind in the Netherlands. In 2014, following successful audition, the ensemble gained a place at the Internationale Stichting Masterclass Apeldoorn (August 2014), in the Netherlands.
