Lucy Arch is a 22 year old postgraduate cellist at the Royal Northern College of Music studying with Hannah Roberts, having graduated last year from the same institution with a first class honours degree. She played for several years in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, performing at major venues all over the UK under eminent conductors. Lucy has a keen interest in chamber music, with her string quartet, The Clara Quartet, winning the Hirsch Prize, John Barbirolli String Quartet prize, and Laurence Turner String Quartet Prize. They have represented the RNCM at a course with the Kuss Quartet in Germany, and recently performed at the Wigmore Hall. Solo engagements include the Schumann concerto at the RNCM, Elgar concerto, Dvorak concerto, Haydn D major concerto and several recitals. Lucy is an experienced orchestral player, playing regularly with orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, Hallé, Manchester Camerata and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as a current trial for a job with the Ulster Orchestra. She is extremely grateful for support from the Albert and Eugenie Frost Music Trust, the Walker Trust and the Lynn Foundation.
