Daniel is a Glasgow-based professional freelance violinist who freelances with Scottish Ballet and runs Arta Quartet.

Originally from Edinburgh, Daniel studied with Nigel Murray, Olivier Lemoine & Justine Watts. Groups he’s performed with include the BBC SSO, RSNO, Scottish Opera, London Concertante, Manchester Camerata, Scottish Chamber Music Players & Ambassador Theatre Group. He has worked with international artists including Andrea Bocelli, Alfie Boe, Katherine Jenkins, Evanescence, Eddi Reader, Ben Folds, Dougie Maclean, Belle & Sebastian, Admiral Fallow, Faithless & Nick Howard. He's also performed as part of Colours Classical, Hacienda Classical, The Ministry Of Sound's 'Annual Classical', 2014 Commonwealth Games , BBC's 'Biggest Weekend' and live to 40 million listeners on BBC World Radio during the world cup. He has been fortunate to perform worldwide including in Mauritius, Norway, France, Italy, Spain, Malta and Germany. Daniel’s ballet experience includes tours of La Boheme, The Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella, The Rite Of Spring, Hansel & Gretel and The Snow Queen. Theatre runs have included West Side Story, Oliver, Sweeney Todd, Hello Dolly, My Fair Lady, Chicago, Les Miserables, Singing in the Rain, The Adams Family, Cabaret, The Sound of Music and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Daniel also recorded and performed with prog chamber-rock ensemble The Blue Ship (signed to infamous Milan-based label AltrOck) and played in Stu Brown’s Twisted Toons cartoon jazz project, the most recent album of which was listed in both The Times and Mojo Magazine’s top ten jazz albums of 2016. Currently Daniel freelances for Scottish Ballet whilst running Arta Quartet, and is set to appear (briefly!) in season 5 of HBO's Outlander.

Arta Quartet performed at our wedding at Carlowrie Castle. They were incredible and added a wonderful musical element to our ceremony. I would highly recommend them!
