Whatever you do when you\u2019re communicating over the phone or by email, make sure there are three key takeaways:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell them what you\u2019re going to tell them<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell them<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell them what you\u2019ve told them<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will then gave a mini workshop with Rachel from Encore Brazilian group, Alvorada and came up with three important takeaways for any client they talk to. After the session, Will and Rachel decided Alvorado could be marketed as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professional<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adaptable<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Experienced<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2049-Active-Listening\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20.49 Active Listening<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will: Active listing is clearing your head of everything else and solely focusing on what someone is saying. So when you actively listen you have no questions going on in your head, no other thoughts, you are fully present in the conversation. It\u2019s really hard to do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You are seeking understanding constantly. You are a journalist in every situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use playbacks. Repeat what the client has said back to them followed by an open question. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you ask questions, don&#8217;t go into what you want to hear, but what they want to talk about.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you use active listening your clients will love you.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2927-Objection-handling\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">29.27 Objection handling<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When you&#8217;re chatting to clients, you might encounter some objections like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019re not quite what I\u2019m after<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price was too much <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will says, if you hear that, there&#8217;s something else that\u2019s the real objection. Instead of focusing on what they&#8217;ve said, you should get to the root of the problem but asking the client:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If we could solve [initial problem], what else is getting in the way of us playing a gig for you?<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Question from the floor: Should you call a client after a wedding?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will: After you\u2019ve played a gig that feels like a one-off, c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">all them up get their feedback, and say \u201cif anything else comes up &#8211; get in touch\u201d.
