Alex Tay is a composer that has had premieres in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Kings College Chapel. He has studied with Robin Holloway, Richard Causton, Christian Mason and Jeremy Thurlow and worked with performers such as Hugh Brunt, Gerry Cornelius, Patrick Bailey, the Britten Sinfonia and the Heath Quartet. Alex also held the position of Cambridge University Music Society Joint-Composer-in-Residence. In 2015 Alex was announced as winner of Britten Sinfonia's Cambridge Composition Workshop and was subsequently asked to write three pieces for them. Alex is currently in his second year of a composition PhD under Professor Julian Anderson and Malcolm Singer at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is a current participant in the LSO Panufnik scheme. As part of this scheme he has been asked to write a three minute piece for the LSO and Francois Xavier-Roth.
