About Alexis

Singer (mezzo soprano)
Worcester
Alexis is a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire and, from September, will be Principal Cantoris Alto Lay Clerk at Worcester Cathedral.

Alexis is a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire where she studied viola with Sarah-Jane Bradley, Roger Chase and Richard Crabtree. Alongside her studies at Trinity Laban, she also had singing lessons with Helen Ludford-Thomas. She was also Senior Choral Scholar in the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir. From September, she will be Principal Cantoris Alto Lay Clerk at Worcester Cathedral. Alexis’ passion for orchestral playing has seen her involved in several orchestras, including the University of London Symphony Orchestra (for whom she was also Orchestral Manager), Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra and the CBSO Youth Orchestra. Alexis has also been invited to work with theatre orchestras, most recently in performances of ‘Die Fledermaus’ and ‘The King and I,’ where she led the orchestra. Alexis also has a great love of chamber music, which was first sparked by attending summer courses with the Carducci Quartet. In her time at Trinity Laban, Alexis’ work with her quartet, formed in her first year, and quintet, formed in her second year, has significantly developed her interest and knowledge of chamber music. Alexis has also played in “Musical Opera” and “Crazy Quintet” CoLab projects at Trinity Laban, both of which involved her playing in chamber ensembles. Alexis served as a chorister at Worcester Cathedral for five years, and was awarded Head Chorister Decani in her final year. She has been a Trinity College London Choral Scholar since September 2014, having sung in the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir as a volunteer the previous year. In September 2017 she was appointed Senior Choral Scholar and her role included library work, booking singers for weddings and working with the chaplain and Ralph Allwood (DOM) to help with choir admin. During her time in the choir, Alexis has been invited to perform solos from extended choral works, including Handel’s ‘Messiah’ and Bach’s ‘B Minor Mass’.
