The Albany Trio is a thriving, dynamic ensemble whose repertoire focuses on works by female composers - both current and historic - alongside the traditional canon of piano trio music. Founded in 2010, the Trio has appeared at major venues including Fairfield Halls, Harrogate International Festival and St Martin's in the Fields. The Trio were delighted to be awarded the Richard Carne Junior Fellowship at the Royal College of Music in 2014 and are current featured artists in the Making Music concert promoters' 2013/14 Guide. Versatile and wide-ranging in their experience, the Trio are heavily in demand as workshop leaders, and are members of Live Music Now an an associate ensemble of Chamber 2000. The Albany Trio recently won the Gwyneth George Award from the Piano Trio Society an were finalists at the 2014 St Martin's Chamber Competition. They are very fortunate to gather insights from renowned musicians including Susan Tomes, Ronan O'Hora, Simon Rowland-Jones, Lowri Blake, Peter Cropper and Richard Ireland from the 'Chamber Studio' scheme at King's Place. The ensemble regularly attend masterclasses, receiving scholarships to the International Musicians Seminar: Prussia Cove, a winter residency at the Banff Centre, Pro-Corda and the Dartington International Summer School. Recent concert highlights include recitals at the Proms in St Judes, The Forge, St James' Piccadilly and a performance of the Beethoven Triple Concerto with The Pico Players. In 2014 the Trio curated an inaugural Women in Music Festival at the Royal College of Music, which was featured in The Telegraph an sponsored by Philip Carne. Committed to bringing new audiences to works by female composers, the Trio has performed works by Clara Schumann, Judith Weir, Sally Beamish, Judith Bingham and Lili Boulanger. They recently commissioned a new work entitled 'Those Secret Eyes' by Charlotte Bray, which was premiered at the Banff Centre in 2014.
