Singing pianist
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Naturally talented and passionate for jazz music, Will Ham is an exceptional piano vocalist specialising in jazz and swing. He is fully covered by Public Liability Insurance and a member of the Musicians' Union. From the early age of 8, Will was fascinated by the music from films such as Casablanca and High Society not forgetting the irreplaceable talent of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. His love and natural ear for music was recognised by St John's College Choir, Cambridge who offered Will a place to study as a young chorister. This renowned musical training led to worldwide appearances on sell out tours with the choir to Canada, USA, Brazil, Australia, Hong Kong, Sweden, Netherlands and Spain (under the baton of George Guest) as well as frequent broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and appearances at venues such as the Sydney Opera House. Following his success at St John's College, he later studied at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester forming collaborations with renowned pianist Gwilym Simcock, vibraphone player Jim Hart, and saxophonist with Duran Duran, Simon Willescroft. Will then gained a place at Rotterdam Conservatoire where he studied jazz vocals and piano. He enjoyed his time studying abroad and soon became the resident piano vocalist onboard the MV Regatta for Oceania Cruises cruising the Mediterranean and Baltic for six months. After which he took up a piano residency in snowy Luosto, Finland for four consecutive years. Will's lifetime of travels awoke his further thirst for adventure which led him to join the Royal Navy where he spent several demanding years in the underwater world of Mine Clearance Diving. This unusual profession has only added to the wealth of experiences that contribute to the substance of his music. Will loves to share his enjoyment for jazz with his audience in his performances. Professional, mature and original, his reputation continues to grow through playing at various events, weddings and live music venues. Bestival 2015, Beaulieu Palace House and Montague on the Gardens Hotel in London are all venues that he has played at recently. Will is currently working on his own compositions and is looking forward to releasing an album showcasing his musical talent.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I am always as flexible as possible on the day of booking. If times change slightly, just let me know as far ahead as possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, this is a great way to keep the atmosphere going during a break. Just let me know what music you would like.

How much time do you need to set up?

30mins minimum, but I prefer to arrive 1hour before playing to ensure everything is in place comfortably.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Absolutely, just so long as it is in tune and of a professional standard. If there's any doubt, a quick Skype call and I will be able to judge it remotely.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Despite this being a fairly common request, I have found over the years that clients normally prefer to leave me to judge the mood and pick the music the fits. However, I am always happy to have a chat about the list and make sure that I have the songs you would like for your event.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes! I have the top of the range Roland digital piano and a Yamaha PA system.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

It's always worth asking as I might know the song/music already. I'm happy to learn a special request for a wedding. There may be a small fee added if I have to buy the music.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Great jazz talent and a positive energy.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

The Beaumont Hotel, London, Chewton Glen Hotel, New Forest Amuse Bouche Champagne Bars, London Capo La Gala Spa Resort, Italy The Garrick Club, London Merchant Taylors' Hall, London Beaulieu Palace House Phyllis Court Club, Henley on Thames Montague on the Gardens Hotel, London Langrish House, Petersfield Novotel Hotels RLC, British Army Oceania Cruises

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Oscar Peterson Erroll Garner Louis Armstrong Chet Baker

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Bestival 2015 and 2016 - Brilliant gig, packed out the Blind Tiger stage!

My husband, children and I were present at Julie and Jason’s wedding yesterday and thought both your wife and yourself were absolutely superb.
