Wallis attended the junior department of the Guildhall school of music and drama for six years, and during that time had opportunities to perform regularly in a solo, chamber and orchestral capacity, at venues including St Johns Smith Square and Milton court concert hall. While at junior Guildhall, Wallis reached the finals of the Pro-Corda national chamber music competition playing Rachmaninov’s Trio élégiaque No 1 with her piano trio, and obtained her LRSM performance diploma in her final year. At school, she won the Baillie Murphy competition in both the senior strings and ensemble classes. She also helped to raise money for the new music block by teaching ‘cello from scratch to two teachers who both gained a distinction in their exam. A keen chamber musician, she has attended numerous courses of this type, including ProCorda and MusicWorks. At the latter course, she had the chance to explore a wide range of chamber repertoire and perform at local residential homes and house concerts. She also attended the Hannah Roberts cello course, which involved taking part in and watching the daily masterclasses, performing the Shostakovich cello sonata in the final concert. Other masterclasses Wallis has participated in were lead by Raphael Wallfisch, Steven Doane and Paul Watkins, among others. Wallis is in her second year reading music at Pembroke College, and has been studying cello under the tutelage of Melissa Phelps since her time at Cambridge. Prior to Cambridge, she attended the junior department of the Guildhall school of music, and during this time had opportunities to perform regularly in a solo, chamber and orchestral capacity.
