With TLP, what you see is what you get – two guys, two guitars and two voices, performing classic songs from the 50’s to the present day.

Steve Gibbs and Ross Griggs are Two Lucky Pluckers, a versatile guitar/vocal duo. Between us, we have notched up decades of professional experience. We've performed at all levels, from grass-roots right through to working alongside a wide range of high-level artists from across the entertainment spectrum (e.g. The Three Degrees, Chas and Dave, Judas Priest), in some of the most prestigious venues (e.g. Hammersmith Odeon/Apollo, The Royal Albert Hall). We cut our musical teeth in the mid-seventies when, as teenagers, we formed our very first band together. However, after that band split up, we went our separate ways and hadn’t had any contact until a couple of years ago, when we were reunited through a mutual friend on a popular internet site. We found that we lived quite close to one another and, over a couple of pints and a curry, decided to get together again - and Two Lucky Pluckers was born. With TLP, what you see is what you get – two guys, two guitars and two voices, performing classic songs from the 50’s to the present day, with quality equipment and professionalism adding up to great entertainment. What makes TLP unique: Add it up and we’ve been performers for a combined total of over 80 years – we’re quite experienced! Along the way we’ve played scout huts all the way up to stadiums, and we both make our living from music. This means we’re available during the day Monday to Friday when most semi-pro musicians would be working at their day jobs (it’s nice never having to worry about getting up early for work the next day!) Travel is also no problem for us – if the money’s right there's no limit to how far we’ll go for a booking. We have an extensive (and ever-growing) repertoire which we’re happy to tailor to the requirements of those that book us. This flexibility lets us focus in on what works with any particular audience and give them more of it. We have no drummer or drum machine – which means that we can play really quietly if needed, even just two acoustic guitars and voices. But we have a 4kW PA, so we can be really, really loud if required! We also have a battery powered PA for those occasions when mains electricity can’t be had.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

They tell us they love our music and our musicianship, and the banter between us and the audience.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Ross and Steve have performed all over the UK, including such high profile venues as the Hammersmith Odeon/Apollo, the Royal Albert Hall and stadiums in Norwich and Cardiff. But we're still happy playing in smaller clubs, pubs and private venues!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

People like Pink Floyd, Albert Lee, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, The Eagles. But we just love good music, any good music.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

That would have to be the Royal Albert Hall gig a few years ago.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line up is Ross Griggs on guitar and vocals and Steve Gibbs on guitar and vocals.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

If required, we can play a selection of suitable music before/in-between/after our sets. Alternatively, if you have a laptop/Ipod/tablet etc.with songs you would like played we can use this, just let us know when you place your booking. There is obviously an extra charge for this if it means we have to be present at the venue for a longer period of time.

How much time do you need to set up?

Usually we require around an hour to set up all of our equipment and perform a sound check to make sure everything is working as expected. This is based on good, straightforward access to the performance area. We then require around 15-20 minutes to get changed and ready for the performance.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We can perform acoustically (with just acoustic guitars and no microphones) if required. We also have a battery powered PA system, so we can be very mobile and still be heard within a church or a garden. However, for you and your guests to get the full benefit of our performance, we need to use a stage area with our full PA system and other equipment.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely, though we're confident that the set lists we have evolved over the years will please just about everyone. We can do 60s-themed, 70s-themed or 80s themed sets too, if you'd like. If there are numbers in our Play List you'd definitely like us to perform (and any you'd rather we didn't!) just let us know - we want you to enjoy what we play!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes, all we need from you is a suitable mains electricity supply and a performance area at least 3 metres by 2 metres - and ideally twice that size! As mentioned above, we also have a smaller battery-powered PA that is ideal for those occasions when speed of set up and tear down is crucial (i.e in a church) or when there is no access to mains electricity.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We'd be delighted to discuss adding a few numbers of your choice.

We chose the lucky pluckers as the 1st band to play at our wedding during the drinks reception and bbq. We couldn't have made a better decision. They were brilliant from the minute we booked them, calling weeks in Afghans to chat through details and see if we had any requests we wanted playing to the minute they left the wedding have played a brilliant set for 2 hours. They are the friendliest and most professional pair who really wants to make our day special. And they did. Thank you so much, I couldn't recommend highly enough.
