About Two Lucky Pluckers

Acoustic duo
Public liability insurance of £10 million
Ross and Steve, AKA Two Lucky Pluckers, have been entertaining for many years. Book early to avoid disappointment!

Steve Gibbs and Ross Griggs are Two Lucky Pluckers, a versatile guitar/vocal duo. Between them, they have amassed decades of professional experience. The pair have performed at all levels, from grass-roots right through to working alongside a wide range of high-level artists from across the entertainment spectrum (e.g. The Three Degrees, Chas and Dave, Judas Priest), in some of the most prestigious venues (e.g. Hammersmith Odeon/Apollo, The Royal Albert Hall). Ross and Steve cut their musical teeth in the mid-seventies when, as teenagers, they formed their first band together. However, after that band split up, the pair went their separate ways and hadn’t had any contact until recently, when reunited through a mutual friend on social media. It became apparent that they lived relatively close to one another and, subsequently, after a couple of jam sessions, the duo was formed. With TLP, what you see is what you get – two guys, two guitars and two voices, performing a range of classic tunes from the 50’s to the present, with quality equipment and professionalism adding up to great entertainment.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line up is Ross Griggs on guitar and vocals and Steve Gibbs on guitar and vocals.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

If required, at no extra charge we will play popular tunes before/after/in-between the band sets. Alternatively, if you have a laptop or Ipod with a setlist of songs you would like played we can use this, but please make this clear when booking so we can ensure we have all the right cables.

How much time do you need to set up?

Usually we require around an hour to set up all of our equipment and perform a sound check to make sure everything is working as expected. This is based on good, straightforward access to the performance area. We then require around 15-20 minutes to get changed and ready for the performance.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We can perform acoustically (with just acoustic guitars and no microphones) for a few numbers if required. However, for you and your guests to get the full benefit of our performance, we need to use a stage area with our full PA system and other equipment.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We're pretty confident that the set list we have evolved over many years of performing will please just about everyone. We're more than happy to discuss which numbers from our repertoire you'd like us to perform - and any you'd rather we didn't!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes, all we need from you is a suitable mains electricity supply and a performance area at least 3 metres by 2 metres - and ideally twice that size!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We'd be delighted to discuss adding a few numbers of your choice.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

They tell us they love our music and our musicianship, and the banter between us and the audience.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Ross and Steve have performed all over the UK, including such high profile venues as the Hammersmith Odeon/Apollo and the Royal Albert Hall. But we're still happy playing in smaller clubs, pubs and private venues!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

People like Pink Floyd, Albert Lee, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty. But we just love good music, any good music.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

That would have to be the Royal Albert Hall gig a few years ago.
