About Trowbridge Symphony Orchestra

Symphony orchestra

The orchestra was founded as the Trowbridge Orchestra in 1923. It gave regular concerts until a period of 'hibernation' during the war. In 1959 it appointed the new young Director of the Rural Music School, Jean Horsfall, as its conductor, and under her leadership it flourished and expanded enormously both in numbers and in repertoire. In 1994 David Price was appointed as Associate Conductor and in 2000 succeeded Jean Horsfall on her retirement. From September 2014 Gareth Harris took over as conductor, following David's retirement.
