About Tom

Public liability insurance of £1 million
Professional saxophonist with great passion for all genres, eras and fields of music. Always flexible and accommodating!

Tom began his journey as a musician at a young age; with both parents being musicians he was able to attend rehearsals and events, providing a practical element to his learning. This partnered the concepts learned from formal piano tutoring, allowing for a rounded introduction to musicianship. At the age of 12, Tom obtained an alto saxophone. Under the teachings of Rodney Smith he developed a fierce passion for the instrument. With Rodney providing a classical influence, he was able to balance Tom’s interest in heavy rock and other (less contemporary) genres. Tom’s musical curiosity lead to experience as frontman for a variety of rock bands, which he directed to success at a Battle of the Bands event in Sussex. At a similar time, Tom also participated in a regional young musicians competition, placing 3rd on alto saxophone. During the total 7 years with Rodney Smith, Tom earned a number of achievements including grades 1 to 8 and a Level 4 Diploma in Jazz Saxophone from the London College of Music. Tom studied music and performing arts at Central Sussex College, followed by a year of musical performance at Northbrook College. With developed performance skills, Tom further pursued music outside of formal study. He has been part of a jazz/piano duo for many years, playing prestigious venues such as The Hilton, Brighton. As well as this, Tom has played with the critically acclaimed modern soul vocalist Luke Fincher for a number of years, playing for crowds of up to 40,000 people. Tom has also been involved in studio recordings for Luke Fincher and funk rock band Funkzilla for a number of years, which has contributed greatly to his overall ability as a musician. Tom is currently working on exciting solo projects, with new found interest in recording, production and the modern electronic field of business. His primary focus is still on performing, however, with current work assisting a variety of established and dynamic artists in London and the Southern England area. I can't imagine how it could have been better. What was required was quite specific and a little unusual. He entered the spirit of it fully and enthusiastically. It made a great occasion even greater. "Added value"
