This is no ordinary Country band, this is an All Star line up of players who’s credit name Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Don Everly, Taylor Swift, Seal, Dr John, Ten Years After, Jamie Cullam, Dizzy Rascal A more eclectic mix of influences from players who were there in the front line would be hard to find and the end result is amazing Steve & Ben Somers Country Band brings a refreshing twist to Americana, Western Swing Revival and neo-traditionalist country music Steve Somers : started as a young singer/songwriter in the London Folk Clubs of the 60’s. In 1975 he won a national TV talent show called ‘New Faces’, after which he joined British hit pop/folk group ‘The Settlers’ and appeared on National and international TV, radio and records. Steve played for Skiffle Legend Lonnie Donegan, Cockney chart topper Joe Brown, American Legend Johnny Tillotson, sung on TV behind British legend Lulu, Don Everly and toured with Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, Billy Jo Spears whilst still performing and broadcasting with his own Western Swing band Ben Somers : was practically ‘born in the dressing room’ and grew up listening to his Dad Steve from the side of the stage, Ben made his own way in music and after completing a degree in Jazz on the saxophone, he was rapidly in demand as a composer, arranger and session player on various instruments, recordings and performing live around the world. His recent employers have included ‘Seal’ ( Dr John (Celebrated New Orleans pianist/singer), Taylor Swift, Imelda May, Dizzee Rascal and many others. Alongside the pop and jazz world Ben can be seen playing Bluegrass with some of the UK and USA’s top players, touring both sides of the Atlantic and across Europe   Guitars with : Guitar-Rob Updegraff Rob studied Jazz/Classical guitar and composition at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Musical experience has covered pop, rock, soul, jazz, blues, country and African styles. He has been performing and recording with Sony artist Alani featuring an appearance on Later with Jools Holland and TV and radio performances in France and England and live European dates. He played on Jamie Cullum’s latest album alongside Gregory Porter and Laura Mvula. In the last few years valtrex performances have ranged from Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club to a Tour of Japan, with European festival appearances including performances with American blues singer Earl Thomas and with ‘The Meters’ legendary funk drummer Zigaboo Modeliste. Alongside this Rob has played with some of Britain’s top Jazz musicians including Stan Sulzmann, Jean Toussaint and Martin France amongst others. Recent radio play includes: BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Guitar-Marcus Bonfanti : After spending his youth as a trumpet player in brass bands, working 12 hours a day in a kitchen to buy his first guitar, dropping out of a prestigious Music College and touring the world with different artists for almost 10 years as a session player Bonfanti has become the sum of all the great music he was exposed to as a young boy growing up in North London. Since releasing his first full length album in 2008 his solo career has gone from strength to strength and seen him tour with and open shows for Robert Cray, Chuck Berry, Shuggie Otis, Philip Sayce, Jack Bruce, The Straits, Beth Hart, John Mayall, Beth Rowley and JJ Grey. He also fronts The Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion; a monthly residency held at London’s prestigious venue and has worked as a sideman for PP Arnold, Ginger Baker, Earl Thomas, Joe Louis Walker, Robbie Macintosh, Hamish Stuart, Mark Feltham, Eric Burdon and Buddy Whittington. In 2014 Marcus was asked to join and front legendary British Rock & Roll band “Ten Years After” and will be touring and recording with them alongside his own solo career. The critical acclaim that both albums received earned him the 2012 British Blues Award for Best Songwriter and the 2013 & 2014 Award for Best Acoustic performer as well as nominations in Guitarist, Vocalist & Album categories for the last four years. “Shake The Walls”, released in June 2013, was listed in Classic Rock Magazines’ top 5 Blues Albums of the year as well as getting airplay on BBC Radio 2 and 6Music and much critical acclaim in the music press and national newspapers.
