Duo/Band Performing Swing/Soul and Jazz hits from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. One of the UK's most experienced jazz groups, with over 400-500 performances to-date "on land" and three 2-month cruise contracts (playing 3 sets every night!) under our belt. We are husband and wife duo Laura & Andy – UK based musicians, specialising in performing elegant, atmospheric music to complement your event, night or day! As the core of the Collective, we form a duo of Vocals/Drums & Guitar, though we can expand our line up to feature a selection of other instruments, courtesy of our roster of professional members. We can create the perfect ambience for your event, whether you’re after some elegant background atmosphere or would rather have a relaxed dance whilst swinging the night away. We’ve extensive experience of performing for Weddings, Drinks Receptions & Corporate events, as well as working internationally for luxury cruise ships and hotels. Our repertoire is carefully selected from a variety of songs to suit your event - we're just as happy evoking the romantic, glamorous style of an ‘Old Hollywood’ / Gatsby party as we are helping you enjoy a cocktail to some live lounge style vibes! Have a look at our ‘Repertoire’ page for more details, and get in touch for a bespoke quote best suited to you! Highlights from our authentic 1920s/30s/40s repertoire include: • It Don't Mean a Thing (Duke Ellington) • Charleston (Classic Ragtime hit – A must for any Gatsby party) • After You've Gone (Django Reinhardt) • Confessin' (Louis Armstrong) • Dream a little Dream (Ella Fitzgerald) • La Vie En Rose (Edith Piaf) • Ain't Misbehavin' (Fats Waller) • Sing Sing Sing (Louis Prima) • All of Me (Classic Jazz standard) • 'Tin Pan Alley' hits Previous clients from over a decade of gigging include: • Dave TV • The Four Seasons Hotel • Dara O’Briain • Somerset House • Princess Cruises • The National Trust • English Heritage • The Ritz Hotel • John Lewis • The Ivy • The Goodwood Revival • The New Theatre Royal (Portsmouth • Gunwharf Quays • Rendevous Casinos and 100s of weddings/private parties since 2016. Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Many clients have told us how they love that they can book a jazz band that is happy to play some pop tunes as well for other guests at their event who may come over with the odd request for a Beatles song! We have also been complimented on how big our sound is for such a small band - especially when performing as a duo.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We've performed at many prestigious venues including Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, The Royal Academy of Arts, Wembley Stadium Members Club, Google Campus, Hippodrome Casino, The Ivy Chelsea, Claridges, The Ned (Soho House), The Ritz, The V & A Museum, Somerset House, Goodwood Festival, The Four Seasons, University Of London, Princess Cruises Residencies

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Louis Armstrong, Blossom Dearie, Ella Fitzgerald, Django Reinhardt, Sidney Bechet, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Charlie Christian, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Sringfield, David Bowie

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Most likely playing for the FA Cup Quarter finals at Wembley Stadium! It was amazing performing in such a famous venue and although we didn't get to play on the pitch itself (we were in the members club) we did get to watch some of the game and hear the atmosphere of 80,000 people which was quite impressive!

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes! Laura is our singing drummer and her and her husband Andy (our guitarist) form the core duo who are on every gig.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our core duo of Drums/Guitar will be on every gig (unless you specifically request a sax/guitar duo or similar). We then have the option to add Sax/Clarinet or Double Bass in any combination you desire!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We aim to be as flexible as possible so this is usually no problem. Please let us know as soon as possible though, as this may affect other bookings that one or all of us are committed to.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We can provide suitable background music played from our iPod (or yours if desired!) through our speakers during breaks.

How much time do you need to set up?

We are usually set up in under half an hour, though we like to make sure we arrive at least an hour prior to performance to get set up. We're flexible on this, so let us know if you need to get to you early so as not to interrupt an earlier part of your event (A small charge may apply if you need us to arrive many hours in advance though)

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely! We like to have an idea of the songs we play beforehand and then react to the room based on our extensive experience, but we are more than happy to take on board any requests you have from our setlist.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We provide all amplification and PA equipment suitable for events of up to around 150 people. The space we need varies from one line up to another but we would advise around 3m x 4m as a rough guide. We have some simple lighting available but we advise you to discuss this with us beforehand if you are likely to have a dark space.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If you have a special request then let us know! We may already know it from our many years of gigging, but if we don't we'll be happy to learn it for you! All we ask is for you to cover a small fee of £30 towards the rehearsal time etc.

The band were perfect for our Garden Party. Very professional and created just the right mood for the afternoon. They arrived in great time to set up. I was only able to hear them for a short while before rushing off, but have heard nothing but positive things from our guests. I have no hesitation in recommending them!
