The MWO provide the very best in gentle jazz, the great American Songbook, love songs and more. All combinations from duo to six piece.
The MWO specialise in providing great music for easy listening, cocktail functions and wedding breakfasts, as well as sometimes providing music for ballroom dances with a few pops thrown in here and there. The brainchild of internationally acclaimed, award winning theatre and electronic organist, Mike Wooldridge, who is regularly featured on BBC Radio 2, even playing live to 5-million people on the Steve Wright in the Afternoon Show, he is the heart of the band and then adds in the finest vocalists and musicians to best fit exactly the line up you would like to fit your space, needs and budget. Whilst he can and often does play piano, Michael will usually bring a digital electronic organ, as this provides the lifelike sounds of everything from a classic piano trio or Hammond organ trio though to full bands in any style imaginable, all played live, and including the added excitement of live bass lines played with his left foot! Add to this one of the regular star singers, maybe Emily Matthews or Samara Stanton, both of whom have starred in West End shows and on tour around the world, or the ever popular Renee Sears, best known for her wonderful musical Gypsy Jazz collaborations with Michael and guitarist Gerry Power, or if you fancy a male singer, the smooth, suave sophistication of Richard Ratcliffe, with his collection of hits from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Nat King Cole. Usually the next musician to add to the band is the drummer, and the MWO has four excellent topline players to call on, all with their own individual personality but all having the skill level needed to be able to make exciting rhythm from the kit in a small front room through to the power needed for a concert hall. Other regular players include an electric guitarist with some 30 years experience working with top name artistes and a trombonist who performs all around the world featuring in the famous Lost and Found Orchestra. The Mike Wooldridge Organisation has a regular job as a duo for Bournemouth Council's popular Tea Dances at the Pavilion Ballroom, the largest in the south, where the MWO replaced top musicians from the BSO and were so popular they have increased attendances. Other recent bookings, both as four piece bands, have included providing music for the 25th anniversary celebrations of a golf club and for a James Bond Themed party night, where much of the night was providing subtle cocktail music but then moving in to a dance set later on. Just let Michael know your budget and the particular style you enjoy and he will make it appear, all to the very best standard, all as you may enjoy on the radio. The very best in gentle jazz for your event.
