About The Four of Herts String Quartet

String quartet

Verified profile
We are a Herts based string quartet, experience in providing music for weddings and all other types of function across the county and beyond

Having played all over Herts for weddings and function at all the major venues, churches, crematoriums and many private addresses you know that the music is in safe hands. If your function is in Herts then we are the go-to group to avoid unnecesary travel charges from groups coming from from further afield - and the unreliability that can bring with it. I run the quartet and perform as a cellist in it, a job I've done for over 20 years. I've built an enormous range of music suitable for all occasions. I look forward to hearing from you.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

We work as a quartet, but I also play in a cello and piano duo and sax/clarinet and piano duo, which may be useful in smaller venues, or for a different colour.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I'm afraid we do have to stick strictly to the contracted times. With sufficient notice alterations can be possible.

How much time do you need to set up?

30 mins. Please could you ensure your venue has put out 4 armless chairs for us.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes of course, and if we can source the music requests are also possible.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes. Please let us know if you need the gazebo or amp as we can provide these at very low cost.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

As long as we can source the music, then new music is fine.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I think sometimes people don't realise how fun a string quartet can be. We have an impressive selection of brilliant music from which we select sets to suit the occasion.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

All over Herts and beyond...too many to list in the characters I have here (I did try!)

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I really love the contemporary things transcribed by The Vitamin String Quartet in America...we play their version of Pharrell Williams Happy!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We have been booked by Lady Salisbury and often by the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire. However I would say that all our bookings are high profile as all our clients are equally as fabulous and valued whoever they may be!

I wanted to thank you and Rachel very much for playing at Tilty church last Saturday. Will and our families said how lovely the music was before the service began and I thoroughly enjoyed the pieces while we signed the register and our hymns with such uplifting accompaniment. Several of our guests were in the military and knew the Boccherini well, they said how great it sounded! Thank you for your good advice all along, and for taking the time to interpret our choice of music.

We just wanted to take the opportunity to say a big thank you for playing at our wedding last month! Although we didn’t get much time to enjoy the music we know our guests definitely did, we had lots of comments that you guys were great and the music was fantastic throughout.
