About The Forgotten Fairground Project

London
Collaborative music and dance group that takes it's inspiration from childhood and imagination. Featuring 10 musicians and 3 dancers.

The Forgotten Fairground Project was started by Trumpeter and Composer, Matt Gough. Initially the idea was to start a project which included a Jazz band & String Quartet but this quickly escalated into a much bigger creative vision. The inspiration for some of the first compositional ideas for the band came from the idea of childhood and imagination. Out of this theme came the story for The Forgotten Fairground piece. The story also spawned the idea to include dancers. The group is made up of ten musicians and three dancers who have gone on to create an ensemble which, through interaction and improvisation, features a music and dance relationship that has very rarely been seen before.
