Emerging from the world of big hair, trouser flares and sequins comes a tight-knit, crop-topped band of professional musicians with a difference. The Chromatones is the 5–7 piece function band directed by Ben Trigg, musician. Ben brings his years of training (University of York, 2007, BA(Hons)) and experience in producing high quality arrangements to keep your favourite tunes lively and energised, and to keep your feet moving. Over a decade's worth experience also means a highly professional service, from consultation to execution, including hire of extra equipment as necessary. We love every wedding and private event we get to play at. But a special highlight was an evening playing everything from latin jazz to soul and pop with guest trumpeter Raul D'Oliveira (session and touring musician for, among others, Elton John) for a 40th wedding anniversary in Sussex, in 2018. All our musicians of course are top class, professionally trained and often working with other names in the industry.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Chromatones front man Ben is almost always on lead or backing vocals; featured in other videos you will see other singers often booked on our gigs, and we will always try and book those musicians first. Occasionally they will not be able to do the date, in which case there are many other singers of equal quality and ability that we can go to.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes. Our stock 5-piece line-up comprises of vocals, keyboards, guitar, bass and drums. Our 7-piece adds trumpet and saxophone, and is highly recommended! We can also do a 6-piece with one horn player.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are a flexible group of musicians who love playing music. It's best for us to have an arrival time fixed early on, but set and finishing times can be flexible up to the day, within reason!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. We offer a straightforward background playlist option with music chosen either by you or by ourselves.

How much time do you need to set up?

We require minimum 1 and a half hours setup, depending on the size of the production. Most situations are usually doable in this timeframe.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We are very open to particular requests you may have, whether they're on our repertoire list or not – we're very good at learning! We require a minimum of a week's notice of any song requests you may have. We usually take care of the order and length of sets based on our years of experience.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA is included in our quote, and sometimes we will be able to provide additional lighting without preparation. If you want to secure additional lighting through us or a large, multi-speaker PA setup through us for your venue, this would add additional cost.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We often take requests for the first dance of weddings. We are happy to accommodate one or two requests of this nature. We require a minimum of a week's notice of any song requests you may have!
