Based in London, Chris "Smarty" James is an up and coming Jazz singer from the UK who has emerged onto the scene as one of the best voices around, reminiscent of the greats. Chris began performing from the age of 15 and achieved success in his early days with his high school band getting play time on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and supporting bands like 'Reef' and 'Basement Jaxx'. He went on to study at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts where he graduated shaking hands with one of his idols Paul McCartney.
As a professional jazz singer Chris has been noted for his spectacular live shows. Working with numerous renowned acts such as The Swingshift Big Band, his headline show has sold out in theatres across the North West including the prestigious Theatre Clywd. Previous clients of Chris include Everton football club and She Network.
Chris now leads a Jazz Quartet based in London with some of the best players the city has to offer. The Quartet comprises of Drums, Sax, Double Bass and Piano. Also available as a trio or even a duo.
The band can play anything from Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole to Etta James and Ray Charles. Hard, soft, slow or fast; whatever needed suit the occasion.
