About The Bate Players

The Bate Players, Oxford University's only historical performance ensemble, was founded in 2015.
Oxford

The Bate Players is the University of Oxford's only historical performance ensemble. Founded by students in 2015, the ensemble is named after Philip Bate, the original curator of the collection of historical instruments at the Oxford Faculty of Music. We are especially interested in performing music from the 17th and 18th centuries. We perform regularly in Oxford, with frequent appearances at the Holywell Music Room and Keble Early Music Festival. In 2016 we collaborated with The Instruments of Time and Truth to give a sell-out performance in New College Chapel.
