Saxophone (Alto)
London

Born in Miskolc, Hungary, on the 15th of February in 1989. I started studying music by learning the recorder at the age of 6. After 5 years I decided to change instrument and my choice was the alto saxophone. I had always mostly studied classical music, but at the age of 12 I listened to a Charlie Parker album, and fell in love with jazz. With the support of my parents I dedicated my studies to jazz, first as self-taught. In 2006 I started attending Egressy Béni Conservatory of Music of Budapest, where I had the opportunity to study with Kristóf Bacsó and follow the masterclasses of Scott Hamilton, Chico Freeman, Benny Green and Richard Bona. I met, played and learned with some of the most famous Budapest-based musicians, like Gábor Bolla; Márton Fenyvesi; Sándor Molnár; Mátyás Tóth; Norbert Farkas; Balázs Horváth; Ákos Benkő; and many others. In 2010 I took my career to Italy, where I graduated from the F.A. Bonporti Conservatory of Music of Trento, and I built my experience of playing in horn sections. In particular, I was the lead-alto of the Bonporti Big Band 3 years in a row, and performed with Paolo Fresu, Uri Caine, and Bruno Tommasso. Taught by Robert Bonisolo and Robert Cipelli, I also followed masterclasses of Sheila Jordan, Billy Drummond and Nicole M. Mitchell. I later studied towards my Master’s in Jazz Saxophone from the Guiseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music of Milan, studying with Tino Tracanna, Attilio Zanchi, Greg Burk, and Giovanni Falzone. Over the years I have played with different groups on the alto as well as the baritone saxophone. I worked with musicians likes Lorenzo Lombardo, Giovanni Agosti, Raffaele Romano, Claudio Ottaviano, Marco Rottoli and many others. In 2013, following a Kenny Garrett Quintet concert, I had the honour of meeting and playing alongside the great Corcoran Holt and McClenty Hunter. To this date, this remains a very important experience in my life – both on a musical and personal level. Through our conversations, we discovered that our similar opinions went beyond musical appreciation – we agreed on most current musical issues. My meeting with Holt and Hunter was most influential, as it motivated me to take my career even further than where I had already got it to: I recently moved to London! I am currently working as a saxophone and piano teacher in the City, and playing most nights at Ronnie Scott’s, making the most Europe’s musical hub.
