TalkingDRUM are a London-based percussion group who perform many different styles of folkloric music from Africa, Brazil and Cuba:
Exhilarating djembe drumming from Guinea; sweet-sounding kpanlogo and fume fume from Accra; carnival conga from the streets of Havana; raw infectious grooves of maracatu from Recife; and the intense carnival spirit of samba from Rio de Janeiro.
To see a crowd of children aged between 3 and 13 spontaneously start dancing, clapping and laughing to a live musical act is a rare treat. Talking Drum spread their joy and skills at Bedales prep and pre-prep schools, Dunhurst and Dunannie with inspirational workshops and transporting performances. The drumming team invoke the carnival-rich rhythmic tapestry of several continents and it is all delivered with the authority and clarity of top world music experts and educators.
