About Talia Cohen Jazz Band

Function band
Top professional Jazz Quintet based in London. Members have played everywhere from Ronnie Scott's to 10 Downing Street.

Talia Cohen and John Cervantes met whilst performing with the renowned ‘Denmark Street Big Band’ and sparked an instant musical connection. They are both established performers on the London Jazz scene, and by collaborating with other talented musicians on the circuit, they have created an elegant and unique Jazz Experience for a range of events (including a Festive set). They have carefully crafted and arranged sets of Jazz Standards made famous by distinguished female vocalists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, Eartha Kitt and Dinah Washington. Talia Cohen Talia works as a singer/songwriter and is based in East London. She has played at the likes of Ronnie Scott’s, Scala, Pizza Express Jazz Club, the Hippodrome Casino, St. Martin-In-The-Fields, the Henley Regatta and has worked with an array of musicians and producers recently including Turner Prize nominee James Richards. She fronts the ‘Duke Street Big Band’ and regularly performs with the ‘Denmark Street Big Band’, as well as her own band ‘Moth Trap’. She has also starred in the 2014 ASOS Christmas campaign. She has been highly influenced by Ella Fitzgerald’s intonation, Peggy Lee’s tone and Billie Holiday’s fragility, while still delicately adding her own style and feeling into every Jazz Standard she sings. She also possesses a rare four Octave range. John Cervantes John is an established Jazz pianist, composer and bandleader, leading many groups including the Cervantes Ensemble, Cervantes Flamenco Project, and the Cervantes Quintet to play at venues and festivals such as Vortex Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, London Jazz Festival, Charlie Wrights International, Manchester Jazz Festival, Derry Jazz Festival, N. Ireland, and Love Supreme Jazz Festival and has received received a string of glowing reviews. John grew up playing the trumpet and piano, and came to jazz through listening to Acid Jazz, and subsequently to Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters album. John was awarded the Master of Arts in performance from the Royal Academy of Music. Contact: [email protected] 07729919300
