Musician based in London. Jazz and classical guitarist, as well as band leader and writer for Op Sa! Balkan Band
Stefan Melovski is a Serbian-born guitarist and bandleader and arranger currently based in London. He spent his youth in the little island of Cyprus, where he studied with guitarist Socrates Leptos and jazz saxophonist Charis Ioannou. After relocating to London, he now dedicates his time fronting his own trio and septet at his residency “Oliver’s Sunday Jazz” at Oliver’s Bar, Greenwich, as well as playing as a sideman for various groups and singers. He has been featured as performer at the Ronnie Scott’s 'Late Show’, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, and has been lucky to have performed with, amongst others, Johnny O’Neal, Ari Roland, Chris Byars, Sacha Perry, Marion Cowings, and Jimmy Wormworth. As a classical solo recitalist, he has performed in various venues around the UK, including King’s Place, Queen’s House, Cheltenham Town Hall, Bolivar Hall, and St. James Piccadilly to name a few. In 2015, Stefan collaborated with the outstanding Carducci Quartet for the Royal Greenwich String Quartet Festival. He is a member of ‘Greenwich guitar quartet,‘ and is currently collaborating with classical mezzo-soprano ‘Lisa J. Coates.‘ He also developed big band "Op Sa! Balkan Band," an original group interpreting music from his home country Serbia as well as his own compositions. With this band, Stefan collaborated with up-and-coming rapper Azza and Counterpoint Arts writing a charity song for migrants at the Calais Camp, which was previewed at Refugee Week 2016 live at Richmix. Op Sa! have performed with legendary King Naat Veliov of famous Macedonian band Kocani Orkestar, and the band have performed UK festivals such as Bestival, Boomtown and collaborated with British producers Gypsy Hill.
