About Saskia Jamieson Bibb

Soloist and choral soprano studying at the University of Oxford.
Singer (soprano)

Saskia’s first choral experiences were in the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and the first cohort of female choristers at Canterbury Cathedral. A highlight of her time as a chorister was a solo performance of Purcell’s Music For A While with theorboist Matt Wadsworth; Saskia returned more recently to perform again with Matt, singing solo works by Purcell and his contemporaries. In her gap year Saskia sang with the choir of King’s College London and performed the principal role in King’s Opera’s production of the Snow Queen. Saskia is currently a second year Maths and Philosophy student at Oriel College, Oxford and Choral Exhibitioner in the Choir of the Queen’s College, Oxford. Saskia also sings with the Magdalen Consort of Voices. With Queen’s Choir Saskia has recently enjoyed performing the Bach Magnificat with the Instruments Of Time And Truth and Handel’s Messiah with the Academy of Ancient Music. Saskia also performs regularly with the Wykeham Consort and the early music group Fount and Origin, and deputises around Oxford. Saskia has given solo recitals in the recital series of Hertford and Magdalen College; in the latter Saskia performed Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate. Recently Saskia was the soprano soloist in Oriel College Music Society’s performance of Bach’s Aus Der Tiefe and performed as Mozart’s Susanna and Strauss’ Adele in Oxford Opera Society’s scenes concert.

From customers:

Audience C, 2 years ago

"The group of some 11 singers handled the challenging idioms with real assurance. Technical and expressive qualities were strong. There was coherence and integrity in their approach. This was student music-making of a high order, revealing a professional approach, and a genuine enthusiasm for this often talked-about but seldom-performed repertory."

BBC C, 2 years ago

"the sonorous, often seraphic, sound of the full ensemble…The female voices of Queen’s College choir sound aptly boyish, reflecting the original all-male performing resources, and their timbre is generally radiant."
