Samantha is a violinist with extensive experience in theatre, orchestral, chamber and folk settings.
Samantha began learning violin in Norfolk from the age of ten before moving to Birmingham to complete a BMus (Hons) and MMus, studying with head violin tutor Nathaniel Vallois. She gained orchestral experience with CBSO training scheme, CBSO Youth, Britten-Pears Orchestra, Young Musician's Symphony Orchestra as well as leading positions in all of the Conservatoire orchestras and ensembles. Since leaving college Samantha was a founding member of contemporary folk outfit The Old Dance School (now "The Fair Rain") and played with them from 2005-15, gaining vast experience of the folk circuit in the UK and Europe. With them she recorded three studio albums and one live album all to critical acclaim. Since 2012 Samantha has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company on numerous productions. These have included many on-stage appearances on violin, viola and stroh-violin as well as Welsh lap harp. Several productions have been broadcast live in cinemas across the world and Samantha can be heard on many RSC recordings of music from current and archived productions. She has recently returned from a worldwide tour of the RSC's King and Country Cycle which took some of the history plays to China and America in addition to a UK-wide tour. Samantha is an experienced performer and session musician specialising in many genres of folk music in addition to her classical playing.
