About Russkaya Cappella

Chamber Choir
Glasgow
Russkaya Cappella is Scotland’s Russian choir. Based in Glasgow, we are one of only a handful of choirs specialising in Russian choral music

Russkaya Cappella is Scotland’s Russian choir—indeed one of a very few choirs in the whole of Britain that specialise in Russian choral music. A mixed chamber choir, located in Glasgow, Russkaya Cappella’s wide repertoire is drawn from Russia’s rich musical heritage, sadly unfamiliar in Scotland: from sonorous and emotionally charged church music to vibrant and earthy folksongs, all sung in Russian and mostly unaccompanied. The choir’s sights are firmly set on the highest standards of musicality and linguistic authenticity. Russkaya Cappella has given public performances in numerous prestigious venues, mainly in Glasgow and Edinburgh; it also makes a significant contribution to the cultural life in Scotland. Russkaya Cappella warmly welcomes new singers. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact us. It is not necessary to know Russian, but the ability to read music is desirable. Rehearsals take place on Thursdays from 7.15 to 9.30pm in the Unitarian Centre, 72 Berkeley Street, Glasgow, G3 7DS, from September to June.
