Rita is a brilliant and enthusiastic musician looking for work in Birmingham.
Rita Lam was born in Hong Kong in 1995. She started learning the piano with her mother at the age of 4. Fascinated by the sound and sight of the violin, she started learning it when she was 9 under Lin Shun, and later under Bidan Chao and Wang Yi. During the period, Lam has won various prizes in the Hong Kong Music Festival. Lam furthered her study in 2010 in England, Wells Cathedral School as a scholar under the sponsorship of Wells Hong Kong Society. At Wells, Lam studied the violin under Matthew Souter, and gained a lot of experiences performing in concerts, both as a soloist and as an ensemble/orchestral player. She has learnt under various distinguished violinists in masterclasses or private lessons, including (in alphabet order) Lucy Chapman, James Ehnes, So-ok Kim, Yao-ji Lin, Michael Ma, and Sally O’Reilly. In 2014, Lam auditioned for music colleges in London, Manchester and Birmingham, and has received offers from all six colleges. She is currently studying under Nathaniel Vallois in Birmingham Conservatoire with a full scholarship.
