Rebecca began playing the trumpet aged 8, taking lessons from Anne Higgs, David Whitehouse and Megan Charlton.
She later attended Leeds College of Music where she took trumpet lessons from David Hilton. She also received compositional instruction from Peter Whitfield and David Fligg, where she obtained a High First in her final portfolio.
She also received conducting lessons from John Anderson, conducting the college chamber orchestra for her final recital.
In 2008, Rebecca's solo piano composition "La Cathédrale Emergante" was selected by Natalia Strelchenko for a young composers project, where they collaborated and used extended techniques to develop the composition.
In 2010, Rebecca was shortlisted for the Presteigne Festival Composition Competition, when her Trio for Cello/Clarinet/Piano was workshopped under Paul Patterson, Joe Cutler and George Vass and instrumentalists Bozidar Vukotic, Catriona Scott and Huw Watkins.
