The RNCM Saxophone Orchestra, directed by Rob Buckland & Andy Scott, is a major creative force in the development of the large saxophone ensemble in the UK. The only UK music conservatoire saxophone orchestra to appear at the 1st European Saxophone Ensemble Congress, and at the World Saxophone Congress XVI,the ensemble features undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Royal Northern College of Music. The RNCM Saxophone Orchestra has commissioned, premiered and recorded a number of works that reflect its musical versatility, energy, impact and unique soundworld from established composers such as Barbara Thompson, Adam Gorb, Joby Talbot, Graham Fitkin & Gary Carpenter, from RNCM composition students (at the time of writing) Laura Bowler, Lucy Pankhurst and Tom Harold, in addition to works from its musical directors.
