About Philip Johnson

Organist and choral director available for weddings, funerals, and church services.
Organist
Witney
Public liability insurance of £5 million

I began my musical career as a young boy singing in a cathedral choir, this developed my interest in church music and led to me learning to play the organ first under Gordon Stewart, and then under Daniel Moult. I studied organ and piano at Chetham's School of Music, and went on to achieve a degree in music at the University of Sussex. Whilst in Sussex I was Assistant Choral Director of the University Chamber Choir, and University Accompanist. After leaving university I went on to take a role as Organist and Choir Master at St Peter's C of E Church in Darwen, Lancashire. I teach piano, organ, and music theory. I am currently Director of Music for Wantage Parish in Oxfordshire, where we have a choir of around 35 and a demanding repertoire.
