Oona is an accomplished harpist with 20 years' experience playing for weddings and functions throughout North West England and North Wales.

Oona graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree from Edinburgh University in 1984. Having then achieved a Performers’ Diploma on the harp and a Masters Degree at Bangor University specialising in Performance on the Harp, Oona has established a busy and successful career for the past 20 years as a freelance harpist in North West England and North Wales. She offers a wide repertoire of music in many different styles ranging from Classical, Celtic, Modern and Bollywood, on both the large concert harp and smaller Celtic harp, tailored to create the perfect ambience for the particular special event. Oona will provide beautiful music for many special occasions such as weddings, Valentines’ Day, Mothers’ Day, anniversaries, birthday parties, christenings and funerals. She has also appeared on TV as a harpist in Coronation Street, Peaky Blinders and Poliakoff's Close to the Enemy, and was honoured recently to play at a ship naming ceremony in Liverpool, by Princess Anne.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I'm always happy to work with approximate timings at the booking stage, and these can be firmed up closer to the date. Also, it's absolutely not a problem to extend the original timings after you've booked me, subject to my availability.

How much time do you need to set up?

I always arrive an hour before I'm due to start playing, so that I have plenty of time to set up and tune my harp.

Is the transport of your harp included in your quote?

Absolutely - I've include all travel costs, including the transport of my harp, in the quotes.

Do you need any equipment provided to play outdoors?

I bring all the equipment I need to play out of doors, including a battery amp and a large parasol to protect my harp from the sun! A flat surface to set up on is preferable, but there are usually ways around this if this is not available. If it's raining or if there is rain forecast for that day, I will need full cover or to perform indoors.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes, I have a very wide repertoire to suit all tastes, ranging from classical to jazz standards, musicals, films, easy listening and modern pop. You are welcome to choose your favourite pieces from my repertoire, with advice given if needed.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If you don't see your favourite song in my repertoire, let me know, as nearly everything can be arranged for harp! So that I can do justice to your song, as much notice as possible is always preferable!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

This recent review perfectly sums up what I hope I bring to every special occasion! "Oona's music added warmth and soul to the day and was beautifully played. Our friends and family commented on how it greatly enhanced the romantic mood and atmosphere of our wedding, and added a touch of magic and fairytale to our very special day." (Siobhan)

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

As an experienced harpist of over 20 years, I've played at practically every wedding and function venue in North West England and North Wales!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Probably my teacher from many years ago, the renowned harpist Eira Lynn Jones.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Difficult one! Maybe playing a wedding harpist on 3 episodes of Coronation Street. Or perhaps playing in a charity ball scene in season 3 of Peaky Blinders? Either way, they were both great fun!

Excellent. Oona played beautifully at our Mothers Funeral and reception afterwards. Oona arrived very early to the event and was highly professional. Played all the requests for the different types of music we requested as well as choosing really appropriate and lifting pieces for the occasion. It really made the day special. The feedback from our guests was amazing. All our guests complemented Oona's performance and loved the calming, soothing and lifting effects. We were extremely happy and will certainly look forward to booking Oona again, hopefully, next time for a happier occasion.

Oona was absolutely fantastic and enjoyed by all of our guests. She stepped in 48 hours before our wedding as we got let down by another harpist. However, we clearly should have gone with Oona from the beginning as from start to finish, her performance was perfect and the highlight of our wedding.

The lovely Oona was fabulous on our wedding day last weekend. She provided an extra touch of class and elegance to our special day - just what we were looking for. We had great communication throughout and nothing was ever too much trouble. Oona also wore a dress that would compliment our colour scheme. Lovely lady and very talented. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend her services to anyone. Thank you! x
