About Oliver

Oliver Wild is a talented young German flautist based in Birmingham. Available for solo concerts, chamber music, orchestra and teaching.

Currently Oliver won the audition for the prestigious CBSO-Training-Scheme which allowed him play with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Lahav Shani and James Feddeck. He took also part in Side-by-Side projects with the Welsh National Opera and played in many of the Birmingham Conservatoire's orchestras. Furthermore he played under Kurt Masur at the Aurora Festival 2015 in Sweden. He was supported generously from the Royal Academy of Music Stockholm. In the same year he received also a scholarship from Arista Flutes to participate in William Bennett's Flute Summer School. Oliver played as principal flute with many other youth orchestras in Paris, Strasbourg, Bruxelles, Luxembourg, Berlin and Leipzig. Oliver played in masterclasses for Susan Milan - who became one of his most important mentors -, James Galway, Robert Winn and some others. In 2013 he won a 2nd Prize at the European Competiton for Young Soloists in Luxembourg. During the academic year 2015/16 Oliver studied through the ERASMUS+ programme at the Birmingham Conservatoire with Marie-Christine Zupancic, Jonathan Rimmer and Andrew Lane. He started his studies in 2012 at the University of Music Saar, Germany. He had been enrolled for two degrees there - a Bachelor in Performance and one in Education. His teachers there had been Tatjana Ruhland for flute and Birgit Engelhardt for piccolo. Oliver was born in Germany and began learning the flute at the age of 9. After a few years he received lessons from flautists of the Theatre Augsburg and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.
