Freelance countertenor/alto working with most of the big churches/cathedrals in London. Also consort groups, oratorio, recitals.
I was very satisfied with Nathan's work. He has a good voice and is a good musician who is responsive to instructions under pressure of time. It was a last-minute booking and therefore my own concern to make sure everyone was contracted leads to a 4-star mark on communication which under any other circumstances would have been acceptable. I look forward to further collaboration.
Nathan read music at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, where he was Senior Choral Exhibitioner; he currently learns with Theresa Goble. As a freelance choral singer, he works regularly with the choirs of some of London’s premier churches and cathedrals, and is a member of several consort groups, including the Gonville Consort and the Colla Voce Singers. He frequently appears as an oratorio soloist: recent engagements include Handel's "Messiah" and "Dixit Dominus", Bach's St Matthew Passion and Karl Jenkins's "The Armed Man". He is a regular participant in Gavin Robert's "Song in the City" project, alongside students and recent graduates of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Alongside performing, he is committed to music education: he is a song leader for Westminster Cathedral’s choral outreach project, and is the voice trainer for the choristers of St. George’s RC Cathedral, Southwark. He maintains a parallel academic career, and is currently completing a PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London, examining the intersection of music, writing, and ethics. He is also a Teaching Associate at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, supervising analysis and tonal composition.
