Maria Camahort completed her studies in Classical performance at ESMUC (Barcelona). Graduating with a distinction in MMus Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she was awarded the prestigious Guildhall Artist Fellowship from 2010-12. During her training both in Barcelona and London, her main influences were Feliu Gasull, Emilio Molina, David Dolan and Christian Burgess; in relation to instrumental skills and repertoire, Zoran Dukic, Àlex Garrobé, Robert Brightmore and John Parricelli. As a performer, Maria is particularly interested in the field of chamber music, creative and collaborative performances, being involved in many different projects such as Quartet Galiu (guitar quartet), The Voice of Strings (music and poetry), Tango Magnètic (dance project), Farsa Moneda (Spanish Traditional Music), The L5Y (musical), Maria Camahort & Jamie McCredie (jazz and classical), Maria Camahort & Lucy Driver (classical - winners of Pro-Musicis France Award 2013), and many different duets with guitar, cello, flute, voice, violin, viola, etc. She has also created and directed her own artistic projects, such as the UK Premiere of F. Gasull's compositions (2011) and Maria Camahort Quintet, project that released their debut CD Iberian Colours last june. Maria Camahort focuses part of her professional career collaborating with other artistic disciplines as theatre and dance. Relevant collaborations include: Guildhall production of Blood Wedding as MD and composer (play by F. García-Lorca. Dir.: Christian Burgess), Little Soldier Productions Don Quixote of la Mancha (creating the music and performing on stage), and Liminal Space Productions Olives and Blood as composer. Other important collaborations include her appearance in CNN interview with F1 Driver F. Alonso (june 2012). With these and other projects, Maria has performed in several festivals such as Barcelona Guitar Festival, City of London Festival, International Conservatoire Week Festival, Bath Guitar Festival, London Guitar Festival, Buxton Festival, Kings Place Festival, Edinburgh Guitar Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, etc. She has performed in concert halls of many cities, such as Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, London, Brussels, St Petesburg, Warsaw, Cracow, Sevilla, Valencia, Gijón, Segovia, Orléans (Paris), Oxford, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Liverpool, Brighton, etc. In London, she has performed in venues as Kings Place, Southbank Centre (Purcell Room), LSO St Luke's, St James´s Picadilly, The Forge Venue, Bishopsgate Institute, Barbican Centre (Pit Theatre), The Blue Elephant Theatre, Jackson's Lane Theatre, Kings Place, St Martin in the Fields and Bolivar Hall amongs others.
